Steampunk Daily: Steampunk Junkies Artwork: Nordstream pipeline : the true story
Once upon a time, in the year 1890, there was a steampunk submariner named Captain Augustus who was training to dive underwater and bomb a pipeline. He was so eager to show off his skills that he would practice on anything he could find.
One day, while on a training exercise, Captain Augustus spotted what he thought was the pipeline he was supposed to bomb. He ordered his crew to prepare the explosives and get ready to launch the attack.
As they approached the target, Captain Augustus began to get a sinking feeling in his stomach. Something didn't feel quite right. It was then that he realized that the "pipeline" he was about to bomb was actually a group of whales swimming together in a line!
Captain Augustus panicked and shouted for his crew to stop the attack. But it was too late. The torpedos had already been launched and were headed straight for the whales.
Luckily, the explosives turned out to be duds and simply bounced off the whale's thick skin. The whales, not too pleased with the unexpected attack, responded by ramming the submarine and causing the crew to retreat as fast as they could!
From that day on, Captain Augustus learned to double-check his targets before launching any attacks, especially when it came to innocent whales swimming peacefully in the ocean.
